Street Style Mondays: The Army Coat

Hey guys!  So the week has just started and I thought we would kick things off with some street style!  I absolutely love looking at street style posts - getting to see everyone's different style and being able to draw inspiration from them is something I have always loved!

Recently, I have been totally obsessed with army coats.  I love the army green color and the slouchy loose fit.  It gives off a casual vibe that I think goes great with every outfit!

I recently saw this picture on my tumblr dashboard, and fell in love immediately!  I love the simplicity of the outfit and how the jacket adds to it in a good way - it doesn't make the outfit seem too overwhelmed.  Its casual and relaxed - perfect for a shopping trip in the city or a walk in the park.

Golden Globes 2013

Hey guys!

So the Golden Globes were last night and apart from all the incredible actresses and actors who won awards, my favorite part was definitely the red carpet! Getting to see all the incredible clothing everyone was wearing is always a favorite of mine! Plus, the GlamCam360 was pretty awesome! All else aside, here are some of my favorite looks from the Golden Globes.

Hayden Panettiere wore a gorgeous Roberto Cavalli mermaid style dress and it is one of my absolute favorites! She looked stunning and the dress fit her perfectly! I also loved how it accentuated her amazing body!

Kristen Wiig definitely surprised me when she stepped out in this dress.  I never thought the hilarious SNL star would be able to pull of something so sexy like this and look amazing!!  I still think of her as Penelope or Gilly!  The simple black Calvin Klein frock with a cutout fit her perfectly and is so beautiful!  I definitely wish I could steal this dress and keep it in my closet :)

Kate Hudson's Alexander McQueen dress is also another dress I wish I could steal.  The gold accents are to die for!  Kate wore the dress so effortlessly, wish simple hair and makeup, and definitely drew more attention to the dress.  The cutout, just like Kristen Wiig's dress, is so sexy and perfect for the dress.  While I know many critics will not agree with me, I have to give Kate Hudson an A+ and two thumbs up for her perfect fashion choice!

Lastly is Jessica Alba's Oscar de la Renta gown.  I love the style on her: the fitted top shows off her great body but the fuller skirt adds a little more shape.  And her jewelry is absolutely gorgeous!  However, as much as I love her dress, I personally am not a huge fan of her clutch.  It just reminds me too much of furry yarn people use to knit scarfs.  But besides that, everything about this look is perfect! The hair, the makeup, ah I just love it!

The night was definitely filled with many other amazing looks.  Which ones were your favorites?  Leave a comment below!

Welcome 2013!

Hey everyone,
Sorry for the lack of posts lately, everything has just gotten so busy!!!  I know this post is a little delayed, but better late than never, right?
As the new year has just rolled in, so have many great fashion trends.  I thought I'd share my latest obsession with you!  POLKA DOTS

Although this might not quite be a trend at the moment, I think its a definite closet staple that will never go out of style!  Denim shirts are one of my go-to pieces - they can be super casual or even make an outfit look a little more put together.  I recently purchased this polka dot patterned denim shirt from Gap.

I love the effortless look it can create by just pairing it with a pair of dark wash pants.  I personally love wearing it unbuttoned with a white or colored tank under :)

I also love polka dot patterned pants!!! Paired with a solid colored shirt (you don't want the outfit to be TOO busy) is perfect!!  They can be casual or a little dressier for work occasions or going out.  Check out this pair:

The black and white combo makes it super easy to pair with a colored shirt.

What are your favorite ways for styling polka dots?  Leave a response in the comments below :)

Hello September!

"'Tis the last rose of summer,
Left blooming alone;
All her lovely companions
Are faded and gone." -Thomas Moore, The Last Rose of Summer, 1830 (source: gardendigest)
While taking a break from school work (sadly, my school doesn't start three weeks into September like some), I stumbled across this quote.  The idea that September is the last we will have of summer is quite daunting, it is also a chance to start new; to start fresh and put the past behind you.  While you may feel like you are "left blooming alone" still hanging on to summer, look at it as a way to reinvent yourselves.  Don't let anything stop you this year.

Instead of doing an August favorites post, I thought a guide would be perfect since the fall season is coming up just around the corner.  Before we head into the colder months of fall, don't be afraid to rock some of those summer items you have.

Check out this outfit.  The dress is totally something you wear during the summer, but the leather jacket and black wedge booties completely transform it.  They add an edge to the outfit, and the darker colors speak more to fall.  The leather jacket is always looked at as more of a cold weather type item - it would be way to hot to wear it during the summer.  It's probably different than most peoples' styles, but there is no reason you shouldn't try it.  Quite frankly, I think its adorable!

Hanging on to Summer

Then again, it does get cold eventually ;(  So in that case, try an outfit like this.  Its cute, but warm and comfortable.  It doesn't look like you're trying to hard, but you still put effort into it.  The mustard yellow pants are SOO a fall color!  And the sweater is sure to keep you warm for those windy days!

Preparing for the FALL!

So, as I must leave you now, I must say I am quite excited for fall.  Can't wait to get jump in piles of leaves and eat some pumpkin pie!

As always,
xoxo Kinsey
